The In[Focus] 2011 cinematography conference was an amazing experience for everyone here at Visualaz. This year the conference was held in New Orleans, and once we received word of the conference, we jumped at the opportunity to make it down to “The Big Easy” and immerse ourselves within the event. There were people that came from all parts of the United States and even some that journeyed from overseas; but despite where they were from, we were all there for the same reasons– to learn, to network, and to be inspired.
Essentially, In[Focus] is an opportunity for those within the cinematography industry to better educate themselves on the ins and outs of the business. Many of those who attended the conference were wedding filmmakers; and while InFocus had many panels that particularly pertained to the wedding industry, they also offered a number of extremely informative workshops and panels for filmmakers in general. There were presentations on everything from alternative ways to make money with your filmmaking, to creating great highlight reels, to creating “killer lighting.”
Another great aspect of the conference was the fact that while all of this was occurring around us, we were also getting a chance to rub shoulders with tons of talented individuals with the same passions and ambitions. Here’s just a short list of some of the talented event filmmakers that Visualaz had a chance to listen and learn from: Kevin Shahinian, David Perry, The Bui Brothers, Matt Davis, and Steve Zugelter (just to name a few).
Ultimately In[Focus] was a complete success– we absorbed so much knowledge and useful information during our time in New Orleans and we strive to show it through our work. Here at Visualaz, we are all about bettering ourselves and constantly striving to improve our end product. We are also excited to announce that we plan to do our very own presentation at In[Focus] next time around! Below are some photos documenting the wonderful experience we had at this year’s conference. Enjoy!
